What it covers
If it fails on its own, we fix it.
Extended cover is for faults in the device itself. It isn't insurance against drops, spills or theft.

- Manufacturing or material defectsA part that fails in normal use, like a logic board, display or keyboard.
- Faulty constructionSomething that wasn't built or fitted right.
- Wiring, design and assembly errorsElectrical faults that come from how it was made.
Not covered
- Accidental damageDrops, knocks, cracks and dents.
- Liquid damageSpills and water of any kind.
- Battery wearBatteries that wear out or fail over time.
- Cosmetic damageScratches, dirt and discolouration.
- Loss or theftSpeak to your insurer for these.
You pay 10%. We cover 90%.

How long does the cover last?
12 months from the day you bought your device. Your standard 90-day warranty is part of that year, not added on top.
Can I add it after I've bought my device?
Yes, within 90 days of buying it. WhatsApp us your order number and we'll add it for you.
How is the price worked out?
It's a once-off price based on what you paid for the device, from R439 for devices under R4,500 up to R4,999 for devices up to R162,000.
Is there an excess?
Yes. Every claim has a 10% excess. We cover the rest of the repair.
Is this AppleCare?
No. It's MacShack's own extended warranty, serviced by our team in Bryanston and underwritten by Old Mutual Alternative Risk Transfer Insure Limited.
Do you collect outside Johannesburg?
Yes. We arrange a courier anywhere in South Africa, or you can drop your device at our Bryanston store.
